JORDI GIRONÈS. "If you make the effort, everything comes your way."

One of ERAM's first students, Jordi Gironès, recently spent a few days in Girona, invited by the UdG to relate his professional experiences abroad. He currently lives and works in London, where he has participated as an animator in films such as Harry Potter, The Golden Compass, The Chronicles of Narnia or The Tale of Despereaux. When he left Girona he had his degree from the school and absolutely no experience. But after several years of hard work he achieved what he wanted: to work as a film animator.

Why did you decide to go to England?

"I discovered animation by accident, and that's why I began to study at ERAM. When I finished my studies there, I decided to go to Madrid to study traditional animation. But several months later I moved to England, where there were more opportunities in this field, and I could also learn English."

Was it easy?

"Not at all, it was hard. I worked doing anything I could and I studied English. They were eight difficult months, but then I got a job in Glasgow, on a short. That was a turning point both professionally and personally."

And after that?

"Everything was coming at once. I got some work on the Pirates of the Caribbean video game. I went to Cambridge, my break finally came and I got into cinema. That's when I moved back to London and started working at Framestore. And in October it will be five years since I left."

What professional expectations do you have, after having worked on important projects such as Harry Potter, The Golden Compass, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Tale of Despereaux?

"I wanted to continue improving as an animator. But I also wanted to enjoy the moment and not think too much about the future. What happens, happens. In any case, if you make an effort, everything comes your way."
