Cultural Activities

You can see everything in Girona. The city, a giant stage on which centuries of history have been recorded in spectacular monuments, invites you to lose yourself on a walk through the Barri Vell (the Old Town). The cultural life of the city is intense, with special events scheduled every month of the year. In addition, today Girona is recognized as a centre of cultural production with well-established programmes of theatre, music and more. For example:

'Temporada Alta' Theatre Festival of Girona

Temporada Alta, the Autumn Festival of Catalonia, is the most important festival of the Catalan stage. It is a festival in which theatre, dance, the circus and music of the best international artists share the stages of Girona and Salt with new proposals from Catalan creators. The Festival is a reference for those creators and for critics, but it is intended for a wide and varied audience.

Girona Film Festival

This short film festival, one of the leading festivals in Catalonia, is now an annual institution. The festival will show more than 40 hours of programmed films, from documentaries, animated films and fiction to experimental films, shot for both cinema and video.

VAD Festival

The VAD Festival of Digital and Video Arts offers a tour of the most recent audiovisual creations and of the work of artists from all over the world who work with images and digital tools in different formats: from the most classic interactive video installations to live  audiovisual manipulation.

Girona 'Temps de Flors' Flower Festival

The spring allows us to enjoy the exuberant vegetation of our surroundings. The combination of water and sun has given us the gift of a large and proliferate variety of flowers as a symbol of nature's extraordinary generosity. Every year the Barri Vell is the setting for an extraordinary repertoire of high quality artistic expression, and for a few days our lives revolve emotively around flowers.
